GEELY South Africa beat the October rush in the countdown to the upcoming Johannesburg International Motor Show by launching an improved version of the popular LC Cross. The new GX2 will be available from the beginning of October.
The improvements include a new 1,5ℓ power plant as well as some other features.
The new model is driven by a powerful 1,5ℓ engine which delivers 20% more power and 25% more torque than the 1.3ℓ version of the current models. The bigger 4-cylinder features electronic fuel injection as well as 16 valves activated by a double overhead camshaft (DOHC), and delivers 75 kW at 5 800 rpm with 136 Nm of torque which is available from 2 800 – 3 400 rpm.
The new engine uses a mere 7.3ℓ/100km with 169g/km of emissions.
In spite of the recent fluctuations in the exchange rate, Geely SA confidently refers to their suggested retail prices as “price challenges”. This bold approach ties in perfectly with the persona of the upgraded GX2, which is available at a suggested retail price of R112 990.
